| | Whoa! Yeah so my DS is charging, everybody's home for Thanksgiving, and I'm not in the mood for any studying. Time to make a xanga post!!
So what's going on with my life? Not a whole lot actually, been playing less of ITG, less music, less tv, even less sleep. So what the heck have I been doing? Not enough studying surely, cause I could be doing much better in my classes. Maybe playing my DS? Somewhat.... Where does all the time go? Who knows. Some people have asked "what happened to crazy/silly Yan?" truth of the matter is....lately I don't think there's been too much to be happy about. Maybe it's seasonal you say? Maybe it's not.
Oh yeah, so I got Final Fantasy 3. I suppose I'll give a little review of it.
So overall, I think FF3 so far is your standard top notch rpg from Square. The world map and towns remind me of Final Fantasy 6. The new character designs are pretty cute. The intro video was nice. The job system rocks butt!! but if you've played FF5 then it's not so much different. The battle system is quite similar to FF1, with the exception that the enemies won't attack the lead character more, but the attacks are spread out evenly. With so many jobs, the fighting rank option is used a lot more (where as in FF7 you pretty much kept certain characters in the front line or the back line and never really switched). The magic system is almost identical to FF1, with only 3 spell slots per level and number of spells you can cast depending on your level. The fighting system, although not as interactive and crazy as FF12s, gives you a better handle of how the battle is faring. and of course the storyline....your usual 4 light warriors and crystal jig, of the parts I haven't fallen asleep to....I think are pretty solid.
Ah next order of business, some Japanese movie I've seen recentl that I recommend for the masses.
-Kairo (Pulse)- The Japanese version please!!
This movie wasn't exactly scary, but was pretty entertaining to watch. It was however slightly disturbing mostly because of the lighting most of the movie was shot in and the music of course.
-Blue Spring-
Toshiaki Toyoda's "Blue Spring" was probably one of most somber movies I've watched in awhile. His other movie "9 Souls" was amazing as well and featured Misaki Itoh :) for a few scenes.
-Happiness of the Katakuris-
Who says Takashi Miike can only do crazy sci-fi and horror flicks? This movie was actually really spontaneous and funny. With the added "musical" parts it's definately worth watching. This movie was of course a remake of the original Korean movie.
-Maborosi- (Maboroshi)
This movie isn't exactly new and can be found almost anywhere. At first I thought "maybe this movie isn't gonna be as good as people say it is", but I was wrong again. It's a fairly long movie, and the directors style with long camera shots makes the movie seem even longer. But I think you'll understand why It's so good once you actually do watch it.
-Girl Boss Guerilla-
Uh...don't ask why we watched this one. Ed and I were at Rentertainment and we saw this...the title made us laugh. Yay.......biker gangs, female yakuza style gangs, violence, sex, and a terrible script. Nonetheless it was one of the most fun movies we've seen In awhile. Made in the 70s, so treat it like any 70s martial arts flick. If you decide to take this film seriously....maybe you'll even hate it.
-Kamikaze Girls-
Oh man, I remember when Chip and I first saw this movie. We decided to watch it again the night after...twice in two nights is almost too much. But this movie was just incredibly fun to watch. Starring Kyoko Fukada and Anna Tsuchiya, this film was beyond colorful!! PINK everywhere!!! MY EYES!!! but the film had it's funny moments and even some animated sequences. Chances are....you'll enjoy this one.
-Shinobi: Heart Under Blade-
Ok so when Octavian told me that they had made a movie based on the manga/anime Basilisk, I was like "WHAAAAT!". I had watched Basilisk over the summer and it was quite enjoyable. Your standard ninjitsu anime with lots of action and killing, but also don't forget the Romeo and Juliet story line behind it all. Shinobi was a pretty good adaptation of the anime to the big screen, but working with only 90 mins...much of the movie was rushed and the overall product seemed somewhat lacking. But if you enjoyed movies like Azumi, this one is definately worth a shot.
Hmmmmm I think that's all I got for now, but I'm probably forgetting some....oh well. I think I should buy a new digital camera, my old one's kinda.........old. I should probably got eat dinner now...........until next time folks!! Stay tuned.....................
